Dolphins announce expected inactives for preseason game versus Falcons

The Miami Dolphins are all set for kickoff in their second preseason contest of the 2021 season. With the game just around the corner, the Dolphins are putting the finishing touches on which players will be active participants and which will be held out for the greater good of their health. The expected inactives list is an expansive one for Miami — and it features half of the team’s wide receiver room amid concerns over lingering injury issues that could potentially bleed into the regular season if not properly dealt with here and now.

Here are the expected inactives for the Dolphins tonight against the Falcons:

There ultimately aren’t too many surprises on the inactives list based on how the past week of practices have gone for Miami. Holland being held out is the lone decision that stands out as an unexpected one.

The good news for Miami in the big picture is that the majority of players being held out are on the mend and many are expected to be back in time for the start of the season. Parker, Wilson and Fuller have been consistent scratches but are trending towards a healthy return to start the season. Williams and Roberts were activated off of the PUP list earlier this week and are slowly being weaned back into action. Carter suffered a reported knee sprain against the Bears last weekend but is not expected to miss significant time.

The biggest impact for Miami tonight will be how well Tua Tagovailoa handles the test without effectively five of his top six or six of his top seven targets at wide receiver. We’ll know soon enough — Miami and Atlanta kick off at 7PM EST.
