When does MLB spring training start in Arizona? 2024 Cactus League schedule information

With the Super Bowl 58 signaling the end to another NFL season, many sports fans are turning their attention to the summer pastime of baseball.

The 2024 MLB season will be here before you know it. Preseason camps will be in full swing across Arizona and Florida in mid-February and continue through March as teams prepare for the new season

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres – who will open the regular season in Korea – play the first spring game of 2024 on Feb. 22.

Here's when MLB pitchers and catchers report, when spring training begins, and the start of the 2024 season in baseball:

When do pitchers and catchers report to spring training?

In the Cactus League in Arizona, and the Grapefruit League in Florida, pitchers and catchers report for the 30 MLB clubs on or about Tuesday, Feb. 13. The Arizona Diamondbacks' first workout for pitchers and catchers will be at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at Salt River Fields.

The Cactus League consists of the Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Guardians, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners and the World Series champion Texas Rangers.

When do position players report for spring training?

Position players are scheduled to report for every Cactus League and Grapefruit League team on or about Sunday, Feb. 18, to their respective spring training facilities. The Diamondbacks' first full-squad workout will be at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 19 at Salt River Fields.

When do spring training 2024 games start in Arizona?

Spring training games begin in Arizona on Thursday, Feb. 22 when the Dodgers play their NL West rival Padres in Peoria.

The National League champion Diamondbacks open Cactus League play on Friday, Feb. 23 at 1:10 p.m. against the Rockies at Salt River Fields.

All 30 MLB teams will be in action for the first time on Saturday, Feb. 24. Cactus League matchups that day: Rockies (split-squad) at Diamondbacks, Rockies (split-squad) at Athletics, Dodgers at Angels, Cubs at Giants, Reds at Guardians, Brewers at Padres, Mariners at White Sox and Rangers at Royals.

When does spring training 2024 end in Arizona?

The Cactus League is scheduled to run through Tuesday, March 26. A few days before then, many teams will begin leaving Arizona to play preseason games in their home cities. The Diamondbacks will close 2024 MLB spring training with exhibition games against Cleveland at Chase Field on Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26.

When is Opening Day 2024?

The Dodgers and Padres get a jump on the rest of baseball by playing a two-game set to open the season in Seoul, South Korea, on March 20-21.

Otherwise, the 2024 MLB season is scheduled to begin with Opening Day on Thursday, March 28, with all 30 teams in action. The Diamondbacks open defense of their National League pennant at home against the Rockies at 7:10 p.m. in the final contest of Opening Day (the Boston Red Sox will play at the Seattle Mariners at the same time).
