Doenges Ford Indians schedule Friday night home game at 5:30 p.m.

Weather permitting, the Bartlesville Doenges Ford Indians will flip the ‘on’ switch on Friday night at Spence Rigdon Field in Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

In a game added just this week to the schedule, the Indians will play host for a scheduled nine-inning game starting at 5:30 p.m. A team from Independence, Kan., will provide the opposition.

The Indians carry a 13-12-1 record into the fray, including a doubleheader split Wednesday in DBat College League play in Oklahoma City.

Tonight’s contest also will be the RE/MAX Night at the Ballpark, Indians’ head coach John Pannell said.

Admission will be charged, in lieu of a pass, Pannell said, but free food and prizes will be available.

Bartlesville Doenges Ford Indians baseball manager John Pannell, left, greets former Bartlesville High/Indians' pitcher Jakob Hall prior to an opening pitch ceremony on July 1, 2023, at the Winget tourney. Hall filled the role this past spring as ace pitcher for Oral Roberts University, which made its first Men's College World Series appearance in 45 years.

The Indians still have some of their biggest opportunities down the road.

Within a few days the compete in the DBat postseason tournament.

Following that, the Indians will host a Stan Musial World Series regional tournament, with an opportunity to move on.

Should all play out as scheduled and hoped, the Indians will have played more than 35 games in an approximate eight-week season.

Pitching has been the Indians’ forte so far this summer.

Within the last two weeks the staff has unleashed three one-hit shutouts between four different arms.

Indian hurlers — and the defense around them — have held opponents to five-of-fewer runs in 19 of 26 games. The mound crew also has limited opposition to three-or-fewer runs in 12 games, including five shutouts.

Offensive production has been a chore — but the Indians still boast a winning record and they advanced to the semifinals in the Glen Winget Memorial tourney in a particularly tough field.
