Dodgers 7, Diamondbacks 5

The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a season-opening, two-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday in Sydney, Australia, with a 7-5 victory.

Second baseman Dee Gordon and right fielder Yasiel Puig, the Dodgers' 1-2 hitters in the batting order, delivered a combined six hits, three runs and three RBIs before a crowd of 38,079 in the Sydney Cricket Ground. Puig was 3 for 5 with two RBIs.

Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu (1-0) blanked the Diamondbacks for five innings, leaving the game with Los Angeles leading 5-0. He gave up two hits and one walk and had five strikeouts.

Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill was shelled, allowing five runs and eight hits in four innings.

Arizona left fielder Mark Trumbo hit a two-run homer off Dodgers reliever Kenley Jansen in a four-run ninth.

The Dodgers opened the season a day earlier in Sydney with a 3-1 victory.
