Doc Rivers gives injury updates on Sixers’ Matisse Thybulle, PJ Tucker

PHILADELPHIA–The Philadelphia 76ers have been dealing with a handful of injuries recently to the likes of James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, and Tobias Harris as well as a key rotational piece in Furkan Korkmaz. Now, it appears that they will have to include more names to that list.

Matisse Thybulle only played five minutes in Saturday’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves and it was obvious that he wasn’t himself. He wasn’t active or mobile out on the floor and he didn’t play in the second half as he continues to deal with an ankle injury.

Then, there was PJ Tucker. The veteran did not start the second half as Georges Niang was out there with the starters to begin the third quarter. Coach Doc Rivers gave an update on each after the loss.

Rivers on Thybulle

“I watched him move in the first half. I made the decision when I took him out, that was the last he was playing that game because it does no good for him. It just extends the injury longer and so I’m thinking, we have two days off and a game. Let’s see if we can get him—we need bodies and my thought was why use him now and then we lose that body. I made that decision and halftime and I told him enjoy the game.”

Rivers on Tucker

“Tuck was getting checked with an injury. We were gonna go with Tuck, but couldn’t come out.”

“I’m not sure. It feels like the MASH unit. I mean, honestly, I was drawing up the play and I noticed Tuck what in the huddle, and he was still in the back. So we’ll find out.”
