DL Trevon Coley claimed off waivers by Jets

The Arizona Cardinals, with the announcement that defensive lineman Jordan Phillips will be unable to play in Week 15 after reinjuring in hamstring on Sunday, will be down a second defensive lineman.

Trevon Coley, who has spent time on the active roster and the practice squad, was claimed off waivers by the New York Jets.

Coley was released on Saturday when Phillips was reactivated off injured reserve. He had been with the team all year, whether it was on the 53-man roster or on the practice squad. It was presumed that the Cardinals wanted to re-sign him to the practice squad.

This season, Coley has played in six games, starting twice. He has 14 tackles this year, one sack and two quarterback hits.

Coley was starter for the Cleveland Browns in his first two NFL seasons in 2017 and 2018.

Arizona has no shortage of defensive linemen on the practice squad currently. They have four — Michael Dogbe, P.J. Johnson, Stacy McGee and Daylon Mack.
