It didn't take long for Mishawaka boys basketball's regional trophy to break
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. — There's an old saying "act like you've been there before."
Well, nobody on the Mishawaka boys basketball team was alive the last time the program won a regional championship in 1955. The Cavemen beat East Chicago Central, 68-52, Saturday to snap a 69-year drought.

It's a trophy they haven't won in nearly seven decades. It remained in one piece for less than two minutes.
Part of the trophy broke off during the team's celebration at Michigan City High School. It was about the only thing that didn't go well for Mishawaka Saturday, which never trailed and built its lead to as many as 22 in the third quarter.
