Dickinson Diamonds 12U and 10U continue postseasons

Jul. 11—DICKINSON — The ancillary fields located at Sanford Softball Complex, next to where the Dickinson State Blue Hawks and Dickinson High School Midgets play at Bravera Field, were christened on Monday and saw a series of thrilling results from Dickinson Diamonds softball's postseason. The end of the regular schedule will be completed this week, but not before fans get to enjoy the comfortable new confines of the complex, which offers all-weather turf and stands that are both accommodating and pleasing to the eye.

The games also come on the heels of some traveling-team success the program saw over the weekend at tournaments in Billings, Mont. Fargo-Moorhead's Red River Rage and the Bismarck Blast event.

On the homefront in the 10-and-under age group in the early games on the Dakota Community Bank & Trust Field, Medicine Shoppe defeated Dakota Community Bank & Trust by a score of 14-6 and in the later games ENG Lending dropped Fisher Industries, 10-3, then Consolidated tipped Medicine Shoppe 11-10.

That sets up the finals, which will be hosted on the Bravera Field at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday between Consolidated and ENG Lending for the 10U championship and a showdown between the winner of Dakota Community Bank & Trust vs. Fisher Industries at 5:30 p.m. with the third-place game against Medicine Shoppe at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, in the 12U age group games Stevenson Funeral Home edged out Armstrong Corp, 12-10, and Coca-Cola outlasted Simnioniw Family Chiropractic 10-9 in the early games and then Stevenson Funeral Home dropped Coca-Cola, 11-4.

In the 12U division, that means the Elk's Club will face Bravera on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. on the DCB&T Field while Stevenson will host the loser of that game in the semifinal losers' bracket matchup at 7 p.m. with the finals hosted Thursday on Bravera Field at 6:30 p.m.

In other recent traveling-team tournament action, a host of age-groups sent Dickinson teams on the road to various locales, with some of them leaving here for the first time. Among the successes Dickinson Diamonds teams contributed were the 10U team that earned third-place at the Bismarck Blast Tournament, the 10U second-place finish for the Minot Storm tournament and the 10U champions who won the Red River Rage tourney. In Billings, the 12Us earned a championship at the Fastpitch Showdown there, while the 12U Gold team earned a title in the Red River Rage tournament.

In the older age groups with the 14Us, Dickinson won the championship at the Ringneck Silver Tournament in Sioux Falls, SD and the Dickinson squad took second at the Bismarck Blast tourney. The 16U Silver team were the champions of the Red River Rage tournament and the 18U Gold team were champions at the Bismarck Blast.
