YESTERDAY'S GAME: Casey Mize throws 4 scoreless innings in Detroit Tigers' 7-0 win over New York Yankees

Game notes: Friday will be a busy day for the Tigers as half the squad will be heading over to Dunedin to face the Blue Jays.

Matt Manning will be on the mound looking to continue his newfound form while taking on the Braves. Manning added some new pitches to his repertoire and although he's in a battle for one of the final two spots in the Tigers' five-man rotation, he said he doesn't see it that way as Our Evan Petzold detailed earlier this week.

Meanwhile, the Tigers will have Keider Montero on the mound, who had an impressive 15-4 record while pitching at three different minor league levels. Montero has pitched in three games so far and pitched two innings in all three outings. In his last game, he gave up two runs on two hits against the Baltimore Orioles.

Next up, the full Tigers squad will play the Pittsburgh Pirates at 4:05 p.m. Saturday with Tarik Skubal scheduled to make the start.
