JEFF SEIDEL: How Zach McKinstry went from 'the kid in the dirty uniform' to a productive Tiger
Game notes: Eduardo Rodriguez will return to the mound looking to rebound from one of his only bad starts all season. In Rodriguez's last start against the Pittsburgh Pirates, he allowed six hits and four runs and the Tigers went on to lose 8-0.
It was his first loss since April 5.
In the six starts between losses on April 5 and May 17, he allowed just two runs over 41⅔ innings.
Rodriguez has found some pretty good success against two key Royals members. Third baseman Nicky Lopez and catcher Salvador Perez have two hits in 20 combined at-bats against E-Rod.
