Game notes: When Joel Embiid saw the schedule after he was cleared to return April 2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, you have to wonder if he mentally circled the April 9 matchup against the Detroit Pistons, because this man FEASTS when he plays the Pistons.

Embiid missed Sunday's game against the Spurs as he works his way back from his knee injury before the playoffs start, but there was no indication it would be a multi-game issue and that means he'll likely play Tuesday against the Pistons.

As Shaquille O'Neal would say, someone should issue a "Barbecue Chicken Alert." In three games against the Pistons this year, Embiid has averaged 36.3 points and 13.3 rebounds in just 32 minutes per game and the 76ers are 3-0 with an average margin of victory of 19.33 points.

Now the Pistons are not alone in getting badly beaten by Embiid and the 76ers this year as the center was on track to possibly defend his MVP win last year before his knee injury, but watching the games it was so abundently clear the Pistons had no answers for him.

If Embiid does suit up, there's no doubt the Pistons will have their hands very full.

After the Pistons game against Philadelphia on Tuesday, the Pistons will head home for their final game of the year at Little Caesars Arena against the Chicago Bulls, then head to Texas to play the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs in the final game of the year.

Detroit Pistons injury report vs. Philadelphia 76ers

The Pistons are once again missing a full starting five and then some. Here's who is on the injury report:

  • Jalen Duren (ankle) missed Saturday's game against the Nets and is day-to-day.

  • Evan Fournier (knee) did not play against the Nets and is day-to-day.

  • Simone Fontecchio (left toe).

  • Out for the season: Ausar Thompson (blood cut), Isaiah Stewart (hamstring) Stanley Umude (right ankle fracture), Quentin Grimes (right knee).

Cade Cunningham has been in and out of the lineup over the last few weeks as the Pistons wind down the season. He has missed the last three games and with only three games left this year, there's a decent chance he could be shut down for the rest of the year. Check back in closer to game time as the Pistons have been making last-minute decisions on Cunningham's status.

The 76ers' season has been railroaded by injuries, particularly to star big man Joel Embiid. The center did not play a single game in February or March before returning April 2 against Oklahoma City. He has played in three games since returning but sat out Sunday against the Spurs for knee injury management. As the 76ers prepare for the postseason, Embiid will likely take the opportunity to get some reps in against a beat-up Pistons team, but he's day-to-day. Kyle Lowry, Tobias Harris, De'Anthony Melton and Robert Covington also missed the game against the Spurs.
