The Detroit Pistons will have two players representing the team at NBA All-Star weekend next month in Indianapolis.

Detroit's two sophomores, Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren, were named to the roster for the NBA's 2024 Panini Rising Stars, an annual showcase event to highlight the league's up-and-coming talent, for the second consecutive season. Detroit's two rookies, Ausar Thompson and Marcus Sasser, were not among the 11 first-year players selected for the game.

Last season, Ivey scored seven points in the Rising Stars game, while Duren had to sit out as a late scratch due to an ankle sprain. Two years ago, Cade Cunningham won MVP of the event as a rookie and Isaiah Stewart and former Piston Saddiq Bey also competed. Even though it only feels like year two due to missing most of last year with injury, Cunningham is not eligible for the event as a third-year player.

This season, Ivey has appeared in 42 games, averaging 14.3 points on 44.2% shooting from the field, 3.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists while bouncing between roles as a starter and a reserve under new head coach Monty Williams. Ivey has played both in an on-ball initiator role and off the ball, letting Cunningham dictate the offense, while Williams searches for the right blend of the two young guards.

Duren has had to deal with more injuries to his ankle this year, but is averaging a double-double, 14.1 points on 64.2% shooting from the field and 11.9 rebounds, in 31 games for the Pistons this season. When healthy, Duren has proven to be the best pick-and-roll partner for the young guards with his ability to play above the rim as well as create extra possessions with an average of 3.3 offensive rebounds per game.

The event, which takes place Friday, Feb. 16 of All-Star weekend, consists of a mini-tournament between four teams of seven comprised of the 28-player pool that was announced Tuesday. The 21 NBA players, 11 rookies and 10 sophomores, will be drafted into three teams of seven, while the fourth team consists of seven players from the NBA G-League, including potential top 2024 draft targets like Ron Holland and Matas Buzelis.

The teams will be drafted and coached by Pau Gasol, Tamika Catchings, Jalen Rose and Detlaf Schrempf.
