Detroit Pistons game score vs. Los Angeles Lakers: Time, TV with LeBron James in town

The Detroit Pistons have lost 14 games in a row. I repeat, the Detroit Pistons have lost 14 games in a row. They can set the franchise record Wednesday vs. the Los Angeles Lakers.

While few expected the Pistons to be amongst the league's top teams in the 2023-24 campaign, almost no one could've predicted how quickly this season would blow up in their faces. Seemingly nothing can go right for the Pistons, as was exemplified by their 126-107 loss at home to the measly Washington Wizards (3-14), officially giving Detroit the worst record in the NBA, an honor they also claimed last season.

Turnovers, lack of spacing, poor defense, and untimely runs are just the start of the issues the Pistons have faced this season. Needless to say, it has not been the start and turnaround many envisioned when the Pistons made a big splash and hired Monty Williams this offseason.

FROM BAD TO WORSE: Accountability. Effort. Detroit Pistons' list of problems growing along with losing streak

As the Pistons try and end this terrible downturn, they'll be facing one of the league's most formidable duos.

Yes, the King is back in town. LeBron James and the Lakers will face the Pistons on Wednesday after suffering a 138-94 blowout loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night.

The Lakers have been by no means a buzzsaw to start the year, floating just a few games over .500 for much of the campaign as they experiment with their new offseason additions, but everyone around the NBA knows the problems they present when fully engaged.

James and Davis have both been really healthy for their standards this year, and LeBron is turning in another age-defying season, averaging 25.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists on 56.3% shooting from the field. He's even knocking down the 3-ball at 39.2%, much higher than the 32.1% he shot last season. In other words; good luck!

The Lakers have been much steadier since moving up-and-comer Austin Reaves to a bench role, where he's been able to operate more with the ball while playing with the second unit and still closing games. Make no mistake, Reaves is still one of the Lakers best players, despite his bench role.

The Pistons visit the New York Knicks in a back-to-back Thursday night.

Detroit Pistons injury report vs. Los Angeles Lakers

The Pistons remain without forward Bojan Bogdanovic (right calf strain) and guards Monte Morris (right quad strain) and Joe Harris (right shoulder sprain). Bogdanovic is practicing and nearing a return, but Morris is out through January.

The Lakers are truly a day-by-day team due to their veteran roster, although they've had relatively good health to start the season (James and Davis have both played 17 of 18 games). Wing Cam Reddish has missed the past three games but is probable to play Wednesday. James is listed as questionable with a calf injury.
