Game notes: The Pistons are coming off a win, upsetting the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis for their first two-wins-in-three-games stretch in about a month. Wolves star Anthony Edwards led all with 30 points and D'Angelo Russell added 25, but Kyle Anderson was the only other Minnesota player to reach double figures as the team scored just 16 points in the final quarter. Bojan Bogdanovic continued his stellar season with 28 points and five Pistons reserves scored 11 or more points in the second-half comeback.
The Blazers are coached by Pistons great Chauncey Billups and have lost four of five, including Friday's game to the Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors. Jerami Grant, traded from Detroit this offseason, had 19 points and Damian Lillard had 34, but it wasn't enough to overcome former Michigan guard Jordan Poole's 41-point effort (along with 31 from Klay Thompson). Grant is shooting a terrific 43.9% from 3-point range and 48.4% from the field while averaging 22.0 points per game. Lillard is, of course, the star of the show at 27.8 ppg and Anfrenee Simons is on pace to set career highs in ppg (22.4), 3-pointers made per game (3.9), assists (4.0) and rebounds (3.0).
Detroit continues its five-game road trip Wednesday vs. Golden State. The Blazers will play the Wolvers on the road that same night.
