Detroit Lions vs. Philadelphia Eagles game recap: Everything we know

It was a frightful game for the Detroit Lions. Hosting the Philadelphia Eagles on Halloween, the Lions scared up one of the worst games in franchise history.

The Eagles came in as just 3-point favorites but destroyed the home team in a game that was neither competitive nor entertaining for fans of either team. In a winless season, this game produced a new low point for Detroit and rookie head coach Dan Campbell.

Final score: Philadelphia Eagles 44, Detroit Lions 6

The first half was an utter domination by the Eagles, particularly along the lines of scrimmage. The Detroit offensive and defensive lines go their butts kicked, plain and simple. It impacted everything the coordinators tried to do, and the Eagles capitalized in racing out to a 17-0 lead at the half.

It only got worse from there, believe it or not…

The Eagles ran the ball at will when they wanted to. Jalen Hurts diced up the Detroit defense when he needed to. Jared Goff was shaky and timid behind a poor performance from the line. The run game did nothing, not even in garbage time.

It was a complete and thorough embarrassment by the Lions in every aspect. Philadelphia featured the better offense, the better defense, the better coaching and the better players.

It was over when...

After the teams traded punts on their first drives, the Eagles quickly shifted into a gear the Lions simply could not match. Austin Seibert missed a 47-yard field goal for Detroit. The Eagles drove down the field and seized the lead with a Boston Scott TD scamper where he wasn’t threatened to be tackled.

Detroit followed that up with a 3-and-out where QB Jared Goff was sacked on third down after running backward to avoid pressure from a blown block by rookie LT Penei Sewell. The Eagles answered that with a field goal and it was all she wrote for the Lions chances.
