Detroit Lions thumped by Chicago Bears, 28-13, in jarring performance
CHICAGO — The Detroit Lions on Sunday were outplayed for the second time in three weeks by the Chicago Bears.
But this time they could not pull off a second epic rally.
Justin Fields and DJ Moore once again proved too much for the Lions defense, Jared Goff had a costly lost fumble on a botched snap and the offense stagnated in the second half of a 28-13 thumping by the Bears.
The Lions drop to 9-4, two losses clear of Minnesota and Green Bay in the NFC North, sit third in the NFC and host Denver next Saturday night. The Bears (5-8) own the projected No. 1 pick via Carolina in April's draft in Detroit.
Moore ran for a score on the game's opening drive, caught a go-ahead 38-yard touchdown on fourth-and-13 in the third quarter, and Fields ran for an 11-yard score in the fourth quarter to extend the Lions' deficit to 25-13.
Goff was sacked four times and threw interceptions on two fourth-down attempts, one in each half. The Lions were 1-for-5 on fourth down.
