Detroit Lions playoff tickets vs. Rams most expensive ever for wild-card game

Looking for Detroit Lions playoff game tickets?

By now, you know the Lions host Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night in a wildly anticipated matchup and the first-ever Lions playoff game at Ford Field in Detroit since it opened in 2002. (The stadium has hosted one other playoff game: Super Bowl XL, back in 2006.)

And that hunger is reflected in the price of tickets. There are plenty on the secondary market, but Lions-Rams is the most expensive wild-card game on record, according to TickPick, an online marketplace for event tickets.

HERE WE GO: Does Lions playoff game vs. Rams mean more to Matthew Stafford or Jared Goff?

TickPick said Tuesday the current “get-in” price for Lions-Rams is $571 (including fees); that's 48% more expensive than the next-most expensive game this weekend, which is the Cowboys vs. Packers, with a “get-in” price of $293 on TickPick. The average purchase price for the Lions game is $801 on TickPick, more than double the previous most expensive wild-card game: last season's Buccaneers vs. Cowboys game ($387).

The cheapest ticket on SeatGeek is $598 including fees.

The Lions last hosted a playoff game in 1993 at the Pontiac Silverdome, a gut-wrenching loss to Green Bay, and last won a playoff game in the 1991 season — their only postseason victory since their 1957 NFL championship. (That '57 title clash was the last Lions home playoff game within Detroit city limits.)

Among the other wild-card games taking place this week, the average purchase price for Cowboys-Packers game is $495 in Arlington, Texas, and Chiefs-Dolphins in Kansas City, Missouri, is $286.

The biggest purchase as of Tuesday morning on TickPick was for four tickets at $1,557 each in Section 127, Row 26 for a $6,228 total.

The No. 3 seed Lions (12-5) currently are a three-point favorite on BetMGM over the No. 6 seed Rams (10-7). Kickoff is set for just after 8 p.m. on NBC.

The Lions and Stafford agreed in January 2021 a trade was best, and he was dealt soon after to the Rams for Jared Goff and draft picks. (We did the final math this spring, which included eight teams, 28 draft picks and 30 players.)

Stafford won a Super Bowl in his first season with the Rams, which included a 28-19 win in October 2021 over the visiting Lions. This will be his first game in Detroit since the trade.
