Detroit Lions fans have strong reactions to Dan Campbell, Brad Holmes contract extensions

The two main faces of the Detroit Lions are sticking around for the long haul.

Head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes agreed to contract extensions that will keep them in Detroit through 2027, the team announced Thursday morning.

The team also announced a multi-year extension for Chris Spielman, special assistant to the president/CEO and chairperson, and one of the team's greats at linebacker in 1988-95. He joined the Lions' executive team in December 2020, and was part of the club's search committee.

Campbell and Holmes have provided a fresh and previously foreign breath of hope to one of the historically worst franchises in NFL history. In three years, the Lions have gone from a team stuck in purgatory during the Super Bowl era to a division winner that reached the NFC championship game. They were a second-half collapse away from the first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.

It's safe to say the news of an extension was some of the best news Lions fans could receive this week, despite all of the hype regarding free agency.
