Desmond Howard on North Carolina vs. South Carolina: 'Another level' than Ohio State vs. Michigan

It didn't take long for Desmond Howard to bring up The Game.

In the first segment of ESPN's "College GameDay" Saturday, the former Michigan wide receiver and Heisman Trophy winner brought up the Ohio State vs, Michigan rivalry when he compared it to the North Carolina vs. South Carolina border rivalry.

But to Howard, these rivalries and the fandom behind them are not the same.

“I’m familiar with the border battle — Ohio State and Michigan fighting for Toledo," Howard said from Charlotte, North Carolina ahead of North Carolina vs. South Carolina. "This is another level.”

Since 2007, South Carolina has won four of its five matchups against North Carolina. Three of which came in Charlotte.

Ohio State has faced Michigan every season since 1918, except one: 2020. Michigan has held the upper hand in the past two years, ending the Buckeyes' eight-game win streak with back-to-back wins in 2021 and 2022.
