Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy suffers high ankle sprain; out minimum 4-6 weeks, per report

After a productive first half of football in 2021, Jerry Jeudy will be sidelined for a few weeks.

An MRI showed the Denver Broncos wideout suffered a high ankle sprain during the third quarter of the season opener Sunday against the New York Giants, coach Vic Fangio said.

"He's going to miss some time," Fangio told reporters, via ESPN. ESPN reported the timetable will be a minimum of four to six weeks.

Jeudy recorded six receptions (seven targets) for 72 yards, leading the team, and Denver went on to win 27-13.

On the Broncos' first drive after halftime, Jeudy hauled in a 20-yard completion from quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. His right leg became pinned when Giants cornerback James Bradberry tackled him, and he was carted off the field. Fangio said after the game that X-rays were negative.

The Broncos selected Jeudy with the 15th overall pick in the 2020 draft as a weapon for quarterback Drew Lock. He played in all 16 games (14 starts) and caught 52 passes for 856 yards and three touchdowns.

With Broncos brass bringing in Bridgewater this past offseason to compete with Lock, a job Bridgewater ultimately won, Juedy appeared to have built a chemistry with Bridgewater before going down.

Denver receivers Courtland Sutton, KJ Hamler and Tim Patrick are now in line to assume Jeudy's targets.
