David Feldman: It ‘would be a dream’ to have Conor McGregor fight in BKFC
BKFC president David Feldman would love to have Conor McGregor compete for his promotion someday.
McGregor has shown interest in bareknuckle boxing, recently making an appearance at BKFC 41 in April where Mike Perry scored a second-round TKO win over former UFC middleweight champ Luke Rockhold. Afterward, McGregor stepped inside the ring with a BKFC championship belt over his shoulder and faced off with Perry.
Many former UFC stars such as Perry, Rockhold, Paige VanZant, Chad Mendes, and Eddie Alvarez have stepped into the BKFC ring, and the addition of McGregor to that list would be a dream scenario for Feldman.
“Bareknuckle fighting, people coin it as an Irish sport,” Feldman told MMA Junkie. “An Irish fighting sport, and he’s an Irish fighter obviously, and he knows how to box. He knows how to punch. He has that kind of style. He has a little bit more of an elongated stance that fits better for bareknuckle fighting and look, who wouldn’t want to see Conor McGregor fight in bareknuckle fighting? It’s as real as it gets. He was so excited about it.
“Forget that he made an appearance, forget that he jumped in the ring, but everything he did to talk about the sport for weeks and weeks after the event and still does it from time to time. I think that means he definitely has interest in it. The fans would love to see him in it, but he is contracted with the UFC, and that would be really a dream for us to be able to put him in there, but you never know.”
Feldman already sees some steam built between Perry and McGregor after they faced off, and the BKFC boss sees it as a mega fight for his organization.
“I’d love to put him in with Mike Perry,” Feldman said. “I think the whole entire combat sports world would tune in for that. I think it’s a great fight, and it’s a great storyline, and I think it’s two guys that know how to talk and know how to back it up. I think it would be tremendous. It’s a dream fight, but dreams do come true.”
The promotion’s next show will see a battle between Perry and Alvarez, who meet in the main event of BKFC 56 on Dec. 2 in Salt Lake City.
