Dates for the Dolphins: JU men's basketball plays at Xavier, Pitt, Purdue; women to visit LSU
The Jacksonville University men's basketball team will face three non-conference NCAA tournament teams on the road and play home non-conference games against three mid-majors in a 2023-24 schedule that was announced on Thursday.
The Dolphins' women's team did that one better: they're going to the home court of the defending national champions.
The JU men open their third year under coach Jordan Mincy at home against Johnson University (Fla.), the first of six home non-conference games. Also on the home schedule will be Georgia Southern (Nov. 14), Campbell (Nov. 29), Trinity Baptist (Dec. 14), Louisiana-Monroe (Dec. 18) and Erskine (Dec. 30).
JU will play road games at NCAA Sweet 16 team Xavier (Nov. 10), Pittsburgh (Nov. 17), UCF (Dec. 6) and Purdue (Dec. 21). Purdue was the No. 1 national seed last season in the NCAA tournament.
The ASUN schedule opens on Jan. 4 at Florida Gulf Coast.
The JU women’s schedule will be highlighted by a Dec. 30 trip to Baton Rouge, La., to play LSU and four-time national championship coach Kim Mulkey.
JU also plays at Miami on Nov. 9, at Florida State on Dec. 7 and at Alabama on Dec. 20.
The Dolphins play their first game under new coach Special Jennings on Nov. 7 at home against Warner. JU has five home non-conference games.
