Cubs reinstate Stewart

The Chicago Cubs reinstated minor-league third baseman Ian Stewart on Saturday from a club-imposed 10-game suspension.

Stewart, who is with triple-A Iowa this season, was disciplined for violating a loyalty clause in his contract after tweeting earlier this month his displeasure about being stuck in the minor leagues.

"The Cubs are done with me," Stewart wrote on his Twitter account. "There (sic) going to let me rott (sic) in AAA all season and then non tender me after. ... I think (manager Dale Sveum) doesn't like me and he's running the show."

Stewart has struggled at Iowa this season, batting .168 with five home runs and 20 RBIs in 113 at-bats. Last season, the former Colorado Rockies first-round draft pick played in 55 games for the Cubs and batted .201 with five homers and 17 RBIs.
