CU’s highly anticipated matchup against No. 7 Kansas canceled

It was probably only a matter of time before this would happen, but the Colorado Buffaloesa 100% vaccinated program — have been hit by COVID-19 at an awful time.

Less than two hours before tipoff against No. 7 Kansas, Colorado was forced to cancel the game due to COVID-19 protocols within the Buffs program.

Fortunately for CU, the cancellation won’t go down as a forfeit.

“Our top priority since the start of the pandemic has been the health and safety of our student-athletes, staff and the community,” CU Athletic Director Rick George said in a statement. “While we’re disappointed for our student-athletes and fans to have to cancel the game, both schools agreed this is the best decision.”

So what happens from here? With little time before conference play begins and much of the team set to (possibly) leave Boulder for the holidays, there’s little chance this game will be rescheduled.

Hopefully, Kansas will eventually be able to complete the home-and-home series with the Buffs.
