Cross country, soccer, football stars nominated for Athlete of the Week

As we begin the second week of the school year, it is time once again for the Tribune’s Athlete of the Week contest.

Congratulations to last week’s winners, with Nicholas Donester of C.M. Russell High football and Hanna Boyd of Great Falls High golf taking the vote.

Each week during competition, two girls and two boys will be nominated, with the audience choosing the winner via poll.

Athletic directors, coaches, parents, and fans are encouraged to send in Athlete of the Week nominations for competitors in all sports in northcentral Montana. Nominations can be sent to sports reporter Grady Higgins at ghiggins@greatfallstribune.com.

Voting on this week’s poll will be open through Friday, and the winners of the vote will be announced in the following week’s Athlete of the Week story.

Here are this week’s nominees for the boys:

Ryan Harrington, Great Falls High cross country: The All-State runner finished second at the season-opening Kalispell Invite with a time of 15:16.30 as the Bison boys earned second place as a team.

Caleb Taylor, CMR football: The sophomore quarterback threw for four touchdowns on 22 for 32 passing for 223 yards as the Rustlers moved past Missoula Big Sky to move to 2-0.

The nominees for the girls are:
