Criminal case against Tennessee Titans LB Rashad Weaver closed, charges dismissed

The criminal case against Tennessee Titans linebacker Rashad Weaver has been closed, and his jury trial, which was scheduled to begin July 18, has been canceled, according to court records obtained by The Tennessean.

Weaver, a third-year linebacker, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault in Pittsburgh in 2021 related to an event that occurred days before the Titans drafted him. According to the criminal court docket for Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Weaver's case status was closed as of June 28 and changed to "nolle prossed," which indicates the prosecutor is no longer willing to pursue criminal charges against a defendant. In such situations, charges are dismissed, usually without prejudice.

Weaver has played in 18 games, making four starts, in two seasons with the Titans. He missed most of his rookie season with a leg injury but returned in 2022 to log 5.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss.

Weaver's lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
