Cooperstown, B-G girls dominate defensively in wins

Feb. 9—The Cooperstown girls basketball team rolled to a 63-16 victory over Morrisville-Eaton Friday.

Rory Nelen led the way with 21 points, four assists and four steals in the win.

Mia Kaltenbach added 13 points, nine steals and five assists while Brenna Seamon and Polly Kennedy scored eight points apiece.

Cooperstown will wrap up its regular season next Thursday at Dolgeville.

Bainbridge-Guilford 41, Unadilla Valley 18

Bainbridge-Guilford hosted Unadilla Valley and came away with a 41-18 victory Friday.

Johnna Henderson had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds while Marissa Mayo tallied eight points and seven rebounds and Peyton Umbra added five points and seven rebounds in the win.

Jaiden Schrag was the leading scorer for UV with 14 points in the loss.

B-G will host Candor Monday.

Charlotte Valley 58, Stamford/Jefferson 44 (Tuesday)

Charlotte Valley came away with a 58-44 road win over Stamford/Jefferson Tuesday in the Delaware League semifinals.

Jessica Zuill made six out of Charlotte Valley's 11 three-pointers and finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

Ella Gerster tallied 12 points and eight rebounds, Kailey Whitbeck scored 12 points and Brinlee Wright added 10 points and six assists in the win.

McKenna Hoyt had a game-high 26 points for S/J.

The Wildcats will take on South Kortright in the Delaware League Championship game next Thursday at SUNY Delhi.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Unadilla Valley 60, Harpursville 50

Unadilla Valley held off a Harpursville comeback effort to win 60-50 at home Friday.

Haywood Edwards had 16 points to lead UV while Tucker Cattanach added 11 and Denzel Peter tallied 10 in the win.

Jayden Deleon scored 25 points to lead the Hornets while Hunter Smith added nine points in the loss.

UV will host Afton Monday.

Roxbury 73, Jefferson/Stamford 44

Roxbury used a 30-point first quarter to pull away from Jefferson/Stamford early in Friday's 73-44 victory.

Mason Hamil hit six three-pointers as part of a 28-point performance for the Rockets. He added six rebounds and five steals.

Taran Davis, meanwhile, had a triple-double of 11 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists while George Proctor finished with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Leading Jefferson/Stamford were Gavin Van Etten with 15 points and Jaiden Socci with 11.

Delhi 83, Unatego/Franklin 35 (Thursday)

Delhi opened up a 28-2 lead and never looked back to beat Unatego 83-35 in a Midstate Athletic Conference matchup on the road Thursday.

Ivan Richardson led the Bulldogs with 23 points while Angelo Krzyston tallied a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, Chuck Haight had 13 points and seven rebounds, Seamus deMauro chipped in 13 points and Lucas Nealis had nine points and five assists in the win. Braeden Johnson and Rashad Kiel led U/F with eight points apiece.

Delhi improves to 14-3 overall, 10-0 in league play and will host Waterville Saturday while Unatego/Franklin will host Deposit-Hancock Monday.

Worcester took down Sharon Springs 47-37 in the Tri-Valley League playoffs Thursday.

Tyler Head led the way with 15 points while Matt Sanders and Alex Adams added 10 and 9 points, respectively.

Adams hit three consecutive three-pointers to give the Wolverines the lead in the third quarter before they sealed the win with an 18-6 fourth quarter.

Mike Cashman had 20 points to lead SS while Ethan Mickel added 10.

Worcester improves to 11-8 having one six of its last seven games and will host Schenevus in the TVL playoffs Thursday.
