The entire college basketball world is ready for Cooper Flagg to announce his college decision.
The No. 1-rated recruit in 2024 and the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, Flagg has narrowed down his school selection to either Duke or UConn.
It isn’t hyperbole to suggest his decision could very well decide which program wins the 2024 national title, as the Blue Devils and Huskies are projected to have the most NBA talent of any programs in college basketball next year, per 247 Sports’ Isaac Trotter.
“Maybe this is a recruiting battle that will also double as a national championship date on that second Monday in April,” Trotter wrote.

After the events in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday night, where 40-year-old Robert Card is suspected to have shot and killed at least 18 people, injuring 13 others, per NBC News, Flagg wants his decision about his future to be forgotten for a time.
Instead, Flagg, a native of Newport, Maine — Newport is about an hour and 15 minute drive northeast of Lewiston — wants the focus shifted to supporting those affected by the mass shooting, the 565th such incident in the country this year, per the Gun Violence Archive.
“All of our focus should be on supporting the victims, their families, and law enforcement,” Flagg wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Everything else can wait. My heart is with Maine.”
According to CNN, the Lewiston shooting is the largest in the United States since the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022.
