There are consequential high school football games this week that could affect rankings
It's a short week.
There are several clashes that could impact the rankings next week. Arlington-Carmel is on top of that list. Yorktown-Mahopac looks to be close and Rye and Nanuet could prove to be interesting.
Stepinac is hosting DePaul Catholic, which owns a pile of New Jersey non-public state titles.
10. Yorktown (2-0)
Kaden Gonzalez showed potential last season. He's breaking out this year, throwing for 382 yards and seven touchdowns in the first two games.

9. Rye (1-1)
The Garnets did not waste time at Lakeland. Chris Iuliano was running with some authority and helped build a 21-0 halftime advantage. A bigger test is looming, though.

8. Pleasantville (1-0)
Daniel Picart more or less stole the show in the Panthers' all-day opener, but Ryan Horigan was pretty impressive on the other side of the ball, playing a part in 10 tackles.

7. North Rockland (2-0)
The momentum is beginning to build. Gamie Sauveur has rumbled for 242 yards and four touchdown on 30 carries and Tristen Veit is cleaning up on defense with 19 tackles in two games.

6. John Jay-East Fishkill (2-0)
Yes, the Patriots have put 84 points on the board in their first two games. Don't overlook the defense, though. It's going to play a bigger role in the weeks ahead.

5. Carmel (1-0)
It's been a difficult week for the Rams, who are going to Arlington without longtime head coach Todd Cayea, who stepped down this week to deal with an ongoing health issue.

4. Iona Prep (1-1)
The Gaels found a nice balance offensively in an easy win at Chaminade last week, getting 241 yards and one TD passing and 195 yards and 2 TDs rushing.

3. Somers (1-1)
A break from routine brought on by the high heat resulted in a bumpy start against Clarkstown South, but when Mason Kelly and the Tuskers found a rhythm, they were dominant on both sides of the ball.

2. Stepinac (1-1)
Points were hard to come by in the second half of the league-opener, but the Crusaders dug in defensively and made several clutch stops to hold off Kellenberg.

James Davenport clearly doesn't need a lot of touches in order to make a big impact. The senior running back has 204 yards and five touchdowns on a mere 13 carries in the first two games.
