What condition Raiders safety position is in heading into free agency 2022

With free agency a couple of weeks away, it’s time to check in on the Raiders’ safety position to give it a condition of either Strong, Stable, Unstable, Serious, or Critical.

Returning starters: Tre’Von Moehrig, Johnathan Abram
Backups: Dallin Leavitt, Roderic Teamer, Tyree Gillespie, Jordan Brown, Natrell Jamerson
Free agents: None

Moehrig was the Raiders selection at 43 overall in the second round. The Jim Thorpe Award winner was thought by many to be a first-round caliber safety, but he would end up being the third safety taken at the top of the second. It may have been an injury in pre-draft workouts that hurt his stock. If there was any concern about his injury, he alleviated that concern by starting every game as a rookie missing just six snaps all season long.

Abram was playing much better in his third season, and also hadn’t missed a single snap until Week 14 when he suffered a shoulder injury, the second of his career. He recovered fully from the shoulder injury that cost him his rookie season, and there’s no reason to think he can’t do it again.

Dallin Leavitt and Roderic Teamer stepped in late in the season, with Teamer playing some nickel corner as well. Gillespie was drafted to compete at strong safety, but spent much of his rookie season relegated to special teams.

Condition: Stable

This position is set for the moment. Everyone is returning, so it can go untouched if the team wishes to do so.
