Colusa advances to first 6A CIF state football final

Dec. 4—The year of firsts for the Colusa High football team continued on Saturday when the RedHawks blistered South San Francisco, 42-6 to win the Northern California state 6-A Regional on the campus of South San Francisco.

The prize is Colusa's first trip to the 6A California Interscholastic Federation state championship to take on the Southern California 6A champion, Sweetwater out of National City, located in the South Bay region of the San Diego metropolitan area in southwestern San Diego County. The Red Devils have a reported enrollment of 2,559 students, according to the San Diego Section directory.

Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at El Camino College in Torrance.

Tickets go on sale starting at noon Wednesday and can be purchased by visiting https://gofan.co/app/school/CIF, according to the CIF office.

For those who cannot make the game in person, all the state finals at El Camino College and Pasadena City College will be streamed live online via the NFHS Network, the CIF stated.

Colusa (13-0) got to this point with a rout in South San Francisco (12-2), where the RedHawks scored 35 unanswered through two-and-a-half quarters to jump way up on the Warriors, a school of over 1,200 students located in northern San Mateo County.

South San Francisco broke Colusa's scoring streak with a kick return for a touchdown in the third to trim the deficit to 35-6.

However, the RedHawks immediately answered with a rushing score to extend its lead to 42-6 and put away South Francisco for good.

Colusa has scored 84 points in two weeks dating back to the Northern Section CIF Division IV final when it lit up the scoreboard on Winters, 42-13 to go back-to-back in D-IV and earn its first-ever undefeated championship.

Colusa's 13 wins is also a school record, according to reports.
