Colquitt County athletic seniors in athletic programs honored

Jan. 31—MOULTRIE — Seniors from four different athletic groups at Colquitt County High School were honored during Tuesday night's basketball games.

Each senior was escorted to center court.

From the cheerleading squad came seven seniors.

Ashley Almond was escorted by her mother Courtney Almond. After graduation, Almonds plans to attend Georgia Southern and major in nursing.

Planning to attend Valdosta State University in the psychology program, Zhy'Davia Holt was escorted by her parents: Nena and David Holt.

Mother Cassie Hurst escorted daughter Allie Hurst, who wants to major in pharmacy.

Kaitlin Maxwell, who plans to major in sports management from Georgia Southern, was escorted by Tammy and Brennen Maxwell, her parents.

Also planning to attend Georgia Southern is Ashley Strange, who was escorted by her parents, Charlotte and Doug Strange. Ashley plans to major in nursing.

Escorted by her parents — Stephanie and Richard Pearson — was Carli Pearson, whose has big plans. She is going play D1 softball at Winthrop University with the goal of majoring in biology and going on to become a veterinarian.

Karson Smith was escorted by her grandmother, Kathy Zipperer. Smith plans to major in Agriculture Communications at Auburn University.

Four members of the Spirit Squad were honored.

Ta'Lisa Edwards, who plans to pursue a career as a barber, was escorted by parents, Daniella and Taurus Edwards.

Grandmother Cynthia McNeal escorted Denise McCray, who wants to go into sports medicine and kinesiology.

Pamela and Kenneth Seay, parents to Ken'Najia Seay, escorted their daughter, who plans to attend Georgia State University and become a licensed travel nurse.

Continuing her studies at Southern Regional Technical College so she can become a certified cosmetologist, Semari Stokes was escorted by Cassandra and Rasson Williams, her parents. Stokes hopes to one day open her own salon.

There were also four Lady Packer basketball players who were honored.

Mother Tamara Moore escorted her daughter, Jamya Moore, whose plan is to graduate with a chemistry degree from Kennesaw State.

Also planning on attending Kennesaw State is Ameris Johnson, however her plan is to pursue nursing. Johnson was escorted by her mother Tswana Ponder and her grandmother Sharon Pridgen.

Nyleigha Knighton, who wants to pursue a career in criminal justice, was escorted by her parents, Kaleshia and Shedrick Knighton.

Escorted by per parents, Katrina and Dextra Polite, was D'Zeriyah Polite, who plans a career as a surgical technician.

The final program to honor its seniors was Packers basketball, who will have three athletes graduating this year.

Zay Williams, who plans to play football at Iowa Western and become a Realtor was escorted by his mother, Umeko Kinsey, and his stepfather, Travis Dawson Sr.

Father Mark Wilson escorted son Markese Wilson, who also plans to continue his athlete career playing football, but at Reinhardt College.

Planning to continue his education at Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College and majoring in agriculture business is Jahni King, who was escorted by sister Mya Haynes and cousin DaNas Andrews.

All seniors were presented with a gift after they were announced.
