Colorado State sports roundup: Volleyball back home against another top-25 team

The Colorado State volleyball team is getting every single repetition possible out of its nonconference schedule.

That's the big takeaway after the Rams played four long matches last week.

Here's a roundup of recent events for CSU's fall season Olympic sports.

CSU volleyball hosts another ranked team

Last week: The Rams are on a truly bonkers run with four straight matches going the full distance of five sets. The four matches were played over five days and the last three over three consecutive days.

It's a mixed bag of results. CSU lost 3-2 at Northern Colorado and 3-2 at No. 21 Arkansas.

The Rams quickly responded at won 3-2 vs. Michigan and 3-2 vs. Central Arkansas.

Upcoming home matches: CSU is back home to host the Ram Volleyball Classic, playing three games at Moby Arena, including another marquee matchup against a ranked team.

CSU (3-3) hosts Bowling Green (4-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Rams then host No. 14 Baylor (2-2) at 6 p.m. Friday. The weekend concludes at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against Pacific (4-2).

The Baylor match will be CSU's fourth match against a ranked foe this season, which includes a top-10 win over Kentucky in front of a near sellout crowd.

CSU soccer looks to continue hot start

The Rams are off to their best start in program history at 3-0-1 and have a pair of road games this week. CSU plays at Montana at 5 p.m. Thursday and at Idaho State at noon Sunday.

The next home match is Sept. 14 against Utah Tech.

CSU cross country opens season

The CSU cross country team started the season Saturday with the women winning the Wyoming Invite and the men placing second. CSU's Sarah Carter won the women's race and Mason Brown was the top Ram in the men's race, placing second overall.

Golf season underway

The CSU men's golf team is hosting its lone home event, with the Ram Masters at Fort Collins Country Club. The event started Wednesday and ends Thursday.

The women's golf team has its first tournament of the season Sept. 17-19 in Wisconsin.
