Colorado State men's basketball coach Niko Medved has secured a commitment from a big man from Minnesota who will join the Rams for the 2024-25 season.

Roster building in college is nonstop, and the Colorado State men's basketball team has its first piece in a roster shift for the 2024-25 season.

The Rams are preparing to enter the 2023-24 season but now have a new commit for the following season.

Minnesota high schooler Kyle Jorgensen committed to the Rams on Monday night.

Here's what to know about the new big man commit.

Kyle Jorgensen profile

Jorgensen is a 6-foot-9 forward/center who will soon enter his senior season at Washburn High School in Minneapolis.

He was at CSU on a recruiting visit in June, when he officially received a scholarship offer.

Jorgensen also reports offers from Illinois State, Eastern Illinois and St. Thomas. CSU's staff considers him an under-the-radar and rising prospect.

He averaged 24 points and 14 rebounds as a junior and is considered a skilled and versatile big man, with inside post moves, potential to shoot outside and good passing range.

His skillset appears to align with what CSU typically looks for in bigs, with players who can play multiple roles.

Head coach Niko Medved is from Minnesota and most famously landed star David Roddy from Minneapolis. Connections in the state continue to CSU.

Jorgensen part of a roster update

There will be a lot of new names for the 2024-25 season for the Rams. Roster building is now year-by-year with the activity in the transfer portal, but regardless of the ins and outs, CSU has openings to fill after the coming season.

Isaiah Stevens, Joel Scott, Josiah Strong, Patrick Cartier and Joe Palmer are all entering their final season of eligibility.

The Rams will fill those spots with a mix of incoming freshmen and transfers.
