College roundup: St. Lawrence's Gosling named ECAC Forward of the Week

Oct. 3—CANTON — St. Lawrence University senior Julia Gosling was selected as the ECAC Hockey Forward of the Week on Tuesday after her outing last weekend for the Saints' women's hockey team.

Gosling, from London, Ontario, totaled three goals and two assists during St. Lawrence's sweep of Mercyhurst on Friday and Saturday. The Saints won 5-1 and then rallied for 6-5 victory. Gosling's goal with 3.8 seconds left in regulation set up overtime in the Saturday game. Her two other goals came on the power play.

SLU hosts Providence for games this Friday and Saturday at Appleton Arena.

BRADLEY ROOKIE OF WEEK

Norwood-Norfolk graduate Lance Bradley was named the North Atlantic Conference's Rookie of the Week for men's cross country.

Bradley, a freshman at SUNY Canton, led the team for the fourth consecutive race with a 19th-place finish among 104 runners at the Founding Tree Invitational on Saturday in Amherst, Mass.

Bradley completed the 8-kilometer course in 30 minutes, 48 seconds.

VERMONT STATE CASTLETON 3, SUNY CANTON 0

Ayoob Musanovic and Matt Spiller scored early goals to boost VTSU Castleton to the nonconference shutout victory Monday over SUNY Canton in Castleton, Vt.

Tanner Curtis also scored for the Spartans (4-7), who connected for all of their goals in the first half.

VTSU Castleton outshot SUNY Canton 12-10. Jonathan Maul made 10 saves for the Spartans. Jason Meneses made nine saves for the Kangaroos (2-7-1).
