College roundup: Clarkson men tie Dartmouth to complete unbeaten weekend

Dec. 2—POTSDAM — Erik Bargholtz scored a pair of goals and Austin Roden recorded his first shutout with Clarkson as the Golden Knights blanked Harvard, 3-0, in an ECAC Hockey men's game Friday at Cheel Arena.

Roden recorded his fourth straight victory in making 27 saves for the No. 5 Golden Knights (7-5 overall, 4-1 ECACHL).

Ryan Taylor registered his fifth goal of the season to start Clarkson's scoring 10 minutes, 52 seconds into the game. Bargholtz scored his first goal 1:47 into the second period. After nearly a full period of no scoring in the third, Bargholtz connected on empty-net shot with 1:11 remaining for a three-goal Clarkson lead.

Derek Mullahy made 29 saves for Harvard (1-4-3, 1-2-3).

Clarkson went on to record an unbeaten weekend as it recorded a 2-2 tie at Dartmouth on Saturday night.

ST. LAWRENCE 3, DARTMOUTH 1

St. Lawrence's Jan Lasak and Justin Paul each scored short-handed goals as the Saints ended a four-game losing skid by beating Dartmouth in an ECACHL game at Appleton Arena in Canton.

Lasak struck for the first short-handed shot 48 seconds after SLU was called for boarding and connected on a breakaway after Felikss Gavars forced a turnover and sent an outlet pass to Lasak who converted past goalie Cooper Black at 4:18.

In the second period, after the Saints (4-10-1, 2-3) were cited for delay of game, Paul intercepted a Dartmouth pass and sent a breakaway shot into the net at 9:18.

Gavars followed with St. Lawrence's third goal less than three minutes later. Gavars' eight goals this season are second in the league.

Saints goalie Ben Kraws made 28 saves.

Nate Morgan scored for Dartmouth (2-3-3, 2-1-3) and Black stopped 27 shots.

OSWEGO STATE 6, SUNY POTSDAM 0

Tyler Flack scored and assisted on three other goals as Oswego State pulled away from SUNY Potsdam with three goals in the third period in a SUNYAC game at Potsdam's Maxcy Hall arena.

Shane Bull scored a pair of power-play goals in the third and assisted on two goals for the Lakers (6-4, 5-1). Brock Krulicki and Quinn Warmuth also scored for Oswego, which outshot Potsdam 45-18. Cal Schell made 18 saves in the shutout.

Potsdam fell to 1-8, 0-5.

SUNY MORRISVILLE 3, SUNY CANTON 2 (OT)

Curtis Abbott scored 1:15 into overtime on an assist from Cameron Clark to lift SUNY Morrisville over SUNY Canton in Morrisville.

The Mustangs (3-8) thwarted a SUNY Canton comeback as the Kangaroos rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game with 4:34 left in regulation on a goal by Niko Schoner.

SUNY Canton (1-9) started the rally on a power-play goal by Gino DeBlasiis 3:04 into the third.

Clark and Logan Robbins also scored for SUNY Morrisville.

CLARKSON 2, DARTMOUTH 2 (OT)

Ryan Richardson and Eric Ciccolini scored a goal each and the Golden Knights went on to record a tie with the Big Green in an ECAC Hockey game at Cheel Arena on Saturday.

Goalie Austin Roden made 31 saves for Clarkson (7-5-1, 4-1-1), which after overtime went on to win a shootout, but the game officially counts as a tie.

Sean Chisholm and Cooper Flinton scored a goal each for Dartmouth (2-3-4, 2-1-4) and goalie Cooper Black finished with 28 saves.

ST. LAWRENCE 2, HARVARD 0

Goalie Ben Kraws made 28 saves to record the shutout as the Saints blanked the Crimson in an ECAC Hockey game at Appleton Arena on Saturday.

Gunnar Thoreson and Josh Boyer each scored a goal in the first and third period, respectively, for St. Lawrence (5-10-1, 3-3).

Goalie Aku Koskenvuo finished with 27 saves for Harvard (1-5-3, 1-3-3).

ALBERTUS MAGNUS 4, SUNY CANTON 3

Goalie Logan Bateman made 18 saves to back the Falcons (7-3) to victory over the Kangaroos in a nonconference game in New Haven, Conn., on Saturday.

Brendan Morrow tallied a goal and an assist and goalie Nate Hopkins made 41 saves for SUNY Canton (1-10).

SUNY CORTLAND 4, SUNY POTSDAM 0

Goalie Jack Riedell made 33 saves as the Red Dragons (7-2-0, 5-2) blanked the Bears in a SUNYAC game in Potsdam on Saturday.

Goalie Lenny Perno totaled 31 stops for SUNY Potsdam (1-9, 0-6).

WOMEN'S HOCKEY

CLARKSON 5, DARTMOUTH 0

Darcie Lappan scored a goal in each period to highlight Clarkson's ECACHL shutout victory over Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H.

Lappan scored one of the Golden Knights' two power-play goals in the first period to get the offense rolling. Anne Cherkowski scored the first power-play shot at 11:11 of the first, followed by Lappan at 16:04.

Lappan scored again 1:55 into the second period. She also scored 1:20 into the third and added an assist on Sena Catteral's goal in the second period.

Clarkson (17-0-2, 6-0-1) went 2-for-3 on the power play and held a 31-21 shots lead on Dartmouth (2-10-1, 1-8-1). Julia Minotti saved all 21 shots in the shutout.

HARVARD 1, ST. LAWRENCE 0 (OT)

Harvard goaltender Alex Pellicci made 52 saves as the Crimson knocked off the No. 8 Saints in overtime in an ECACHL game in Cambridge, Mass.

Gwynn Lapp snapped a scoreless game 44.4 seconds into overtime to send Harvard (2-11-1, 1-8-1) to the upset victory.

Hannah Chorske and Kaley MacDonald assisted on the winning goal.

The Saints held a 52-19 shots-on-goal advantage, including 13 alone from Julia Gosling but could not get past Pellicci. SLU outshot Harvard 15-4 in the first period.

Emma-Sofie Nordstrom saved 18 shots for the Saints (12-6, 6-1).

SUNY CANTON 5, BUFFALO STATE 2

Danika Lalonde scored three consecutive goals for SUNY Canton with the last a short-handed shot to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead in a SUNYAC victory over Buffalo State in Canton.

Lalonde tied the game in the first period at 17:07. After a scoreless second period, Lalonde scored 28 seconds into the third and followed 3:28 later with a short-handed goal. Desiree Snook, who finished with two goals and assist, continued the Roos' scoring streak with SUNY Canton's fourth straight at 10:04 of the third. Molly Lenihan made 21 saves for the Kangaroos (8-3, 2-3).

Hannah Tingley and Grace Zwolak scored for Buffalo State (1-7-1, 0-4).

OSWEGO STATE 3, SUNY POTSDAM 1

Oswego State scored the game's first three goals in the first period to wrap up the SUNYAC clash early in Potsdam.

Rachel Corbett scored two minutes into the game and Erika Parenti and Ashlynn McGrath scored power-play goals in the first for the Lakers (5-4-1, 3-2-1). Corbett and McGrath each added an assist.

Sara Barrett scored an unassisted goal with 57 seconds left in the second period for the Bears (3-5, 1-4).

CLARKSON 9, HARVARD 1

Keira Hurry, Laurence Frenette and Rebecca Morissette each tallied a goal and an assist as the unbeaten Golden Knights routed the Crimson in an ECAC Hockey game in Boston on Saturday.

Haley Winn recorded three assists for Clarkson (18-0-2, 7-0-1) and Jenna Goodwin and Nicole Gosling each totaled two assists.

ST. LAWRENCE 6, DARTMOUTH 5

Julia Gosling scored two goals and assisted on three others and Abby Hustler tallied three goals and an assist as the Saints edged the Big Green in an ECAC Hockey game in Hanover, N.H. on Saturday.

Mae Batherson recorded three assists and Anna Segedi would score the eventual deciding goal with a power-play tally in the third period for St. Lawrence (13-6, 7-1).

SUNY POTSDAM 3, SUNY BUFFALO 2 (OT)

Catherine Proulx scored 3:02 into overtime to lift the Bears to victory over the Bengals in a SUNYAC game in Potsdam on Saturday.

Alana Palameta recorded a pair of assists for SUNY Potsdam and goalie Ellie Zurfluh made 19 saves to post the win for SUNY Potsdam (4-5, 2-4).

SUNY PLATTSBURGH 4, SUNY CANTON 2

Julia Masotta scored a pair of goals to propel the No. 4-ranked Cardinals (8-0-1, 6-0) past the Kangaroos in a SUNYAC game in Plattsburgh on Saturday.

Desiree Snook and Chamonix Jackson each scored a goal for SUNY Canton (7-4, 1-4).

MEN'S BASKETBALL

CLARKSON 72, SKIDMORE 71

Ryan Miles-Ferguson recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and totaling 11 rebounds as the Golden Knights won their Liberty League season opener by holding off the Thoroughbreds in Saratoga Springs.

Braeden Burns added 15 points and Frankie Rainville chipped in 10 points for Clarkson (5-1, 1-0). Matteo Sinon also contributed eight points and 11 rebounds for the Golden Knights.

Clarkson scored 31 second-chance points in the game thanks to 22 offensive rebounds.

Aidan Roy and Jack LaGarde each scored 17 points to pace Skidmore (2-4, 0-1).

RENSSELAER 71, ST. LAWRENCE 44

Jonny Angbazo generated a game-high 21 points as the Engineers cruised to victory against the Saints in the Liberty League season opener for both teams in Troy.

P.J. Scalisi contributed 12 points for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (3-3, 1-0), which built a 41-21 lead through the first half and never looked back.

Aidan Macaulay supplied 10 points to pace St. Lawrence (3-3, 0-1).

SUNY POLY 78, SUNY CANTON 73

Toure Cheickne poured in a game-high 33 points as the Wildcats outlasted the Kangaroos to win a North Atlantic Conference game in Utica.

Anthony Rose added 18 points for SUNY Poly (3-4, 1-1).

Jevonte Williams and Moe Biao each scored 23 points to pace SUNY Canton (3-6, 0-1).

Bryon Streb and Kevin Goode Jr. each chipped in with 10 points for the Kangaroos.

SUNY OSWEGO 98, SUNY POTSDAM 60

Ahkee Anderson and Jeremiah Sparks each scored 13 points as the No. 6-ranked Lakers (6-0, 1-0) cruised to victory over the Bears in the SUNYAC season opener for both teams in Oswego.

Freshman guard Nicholas Cortez led SUNY Potsdam (1-5, 0-1) with a career-high 10 points.

CLARKSON 64, RPI 60

Grad student Ryan Miles-Ferguson tied his season and career-high by scoring 27 points as the Golden Knights picked up their second win of the weekend with a victory over the Engineers in a Liberty League game in Troy on Saturday.

Jack Dalgety recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds for Clarkson (6-1, 2-0) and Braeden Burns contributed 10 points.

Avery Eugster scored 24 points to pace RPI (3-4, 1-1).

ST. LAWRENCE 69, SKIDMORE 58

Trey Syroka scored 16 points to lead a balanced attack as the Saints topped the Thoroughbreds to win a Liberty League game in Saratoga Springs on Saturday.

Adam Dudzinski supplied 11 points and Andrew Cowan chipped in with 10 points for St. Lawrence (4-3, 1-1).

SUNY CANTON 84, EASTERN NAZARENE 69

Bryon Streb scored 18 points and Eli Larson supplied 16 points as the Kangaroos cruised past the Lions to win a North Atlantic Conference game in Quincy, Mass, on Saturday.

Kevin Goode Jr. contributed 15 points for SUNY Canton (4-6, 1-1) and Jevonte Williams chipped in with 12 points.

JEFFERSON CC 93, FINGER LAKES CC 60

Ibrahim Wally and Jaylin Maysonet each scored 13 points to pace the Vikings to victory over the Lakers in a Mid-State Athletic Conference game in Watertown on Saturday.

Machi Plummer and Kristan Lewis each contributed 10 points for Jefferson Community College (5-1, 4-1).

Kareem Lubin scored a game-high 19 points as the Red Dragons (4-2, 2-0) downed the Bears in a SUNYAC game in Cortland on Saturday.

Kelly Parker generated 18 points and eight rebounds for SUNY Potsdam (1-6, 0-2) and Isaac Oduro Jr. scored 17 points.

Jackie Malley generated 15 points to pace a balanced effort as the Saints won their Liberty League season opener with a victory over the Engineers in Troy.

Elizabeth Flynn scored eight points and hauled in 20 rebounds for St. Lawrence (1-4, 1-0).

Caelan McHarney, Abby Doin, and Cam Roberts each chipped in with eight points for the Saints.

Nicole DaPra posted a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds for RPI (3-4, 0-1).

SUNY CANTON 87, SUNY POLY 52

Sierra Pabo scored a season-high 26 points and Hope Aniceto contributed 20 points of her own as the Kangaroos cruised to victory in their NAC opener with a win against the Wildcats in Utica.

Emma Perez added 13 points and Jayda Pina chipped in with 11 points for SUNY Canton (8-1, 1-0), which raced out to a 14-1 lead before building a 27-5 advantage through the first quarter.

Aniceto also recorded a career-high eight assists to go with a game-high four steals.

Alivia Turk scored 20 points to lead SUNY Poly (0-6, 0-2).

SKIDMORE 45, CLARKSON 29

Julia Blanck scored a game-high 19 points and also seized 14 rebounds to propel the Thoroughbreds past the Golden Knights in a Liberty League encounter in Saratoga Springs.

Andi Levitz added 11 points for Skidmore (5-2, 1-0).

Cassidy Dumont contributed 12 points to pace Clarkson (2-4, 0-1).

Giavanna White-Principio scored 14 points and the Lakers (4-2, 1-0) held off the Bears to win the SUNYAC season opener for both teams in Oswego.

Graduate student forward Jakia Howard led SUNY Potsdam (4-2, 0-1) by generating another double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds and junior guard Carley Hill contributed 10 points.

RPI 72, CLARKSON 50

Nicole DaPra scored a game-high 24 points as the Engineers (4-4, 1-1) cruised to a Liberty League win over the Golden Knights in Troy on Saturday.

Cassidy Dumont scored 15 points to lead Clarkson (2-5, 0-2).

Julia Blanck and Becca Horger each scored 12 points to pace a balanced effort as the Throughbreds (6-2, 2-0) topped the Saints in a Liberty League in Saratoga Springs.
