Coldwater's Foley voted final Breathe Free Duct Cleaning Athlete of the Week

BRANCH COUNTY – The votes have been tallied and the results are final as The Daily Reporter’s final Breathe Free Duct Cleaning Athlete of the Week award has been decided, and this week’s honor goes to Coldwater junior track and field thrower Elli Foley.

Foley was honored by you, the readers, in what will be the final installment of the Breathe Free Duct Cleaning Athlete of the Week for the 2023-24 school year, as spring sports have ended across the county.

Foley was honored by the readers with 45 percent of the vote after a week that saw the junior throwing ace earn her second straight Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division Two All-State honor at the track and field championships. Foley earned All-State honors in the shot put at the state finals on Saturday, taking fourth place in the event with a throw of 40 feet, 3 inches. Foley also finished in nineteenth place in the discus with a throw of 104 feet, 6 inches to cap off yet another record-breaking season.

Not far behind Foley and taking runner-up honors in this week’s Breathe Free Duct Cleaning Athlete of the Week poll is Bronson baseballer James Jourdan. Jourdan took second place in

the vote with 35 percent of the vote, one of the closest votes of the spring season. Jourdan was recognized as a key member of the Bronson post season run, finishing a solid 4-for-5 from the plate during the postseason, an effort that accounted for one RBI and two runs scored. 

Also battling their way to the finals but coming up a little short in the final vote of the season was Brookelynn Parker of Quincy Track; Miley Pointdexter of Quincy softball; and Ryan Kempter of Quincy baseball.

With the announcement of this week’s Breathe Free Duct Cleaning Athlete of the Week award, the spring sports awards are complete here at the Daily Reporter.
