Coldwater swim takes 4th at Harper Creek Invite, Calhoun breaks 11-dive record

BATTLE CREEK – The Coldwater swim and dive team traveled to Battle Creek on Saturday to compete in the Harper Creek Invitational.

Coldwater finished in fourth place overall at the event, with Kalamazoo Central taking first, Sturgis in second, and Portage Northern in third.

Coldwater had one victory, as diving superstar Charlotte Calhoun broke her own school record in the 11-dive event, winning first place with a new record score of 419.10.

Coldwater had four swimmers bring home some hardware, with three of those four earning multiple awards.

Bringing home medals for the Cardinals was Carly Krzyzanski with a fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle and sixth place in the 500 freestyle; Ayla McCowan with a fourth-place finish in the 200 individual medley and third place in the 100 breaststroke; Olivia Boland with a fifth-place finish in the 50 freestyle and fifth place in the 100 breaststroke; and Sienna Losinski with a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle.

Coldwater brought home one more medal, as the 200-freestyle relay team of Boland, McCowan, Sidney Aseltine, and Losinski finished in second place.

Other notable finishes include Calhoun with a 28th place finish in the 100 backstroke; Gabby Bookmyer, 17th place in the 50 freestyle and 15th place in the 500 freestyle; Jossy Martinez, 25th place in the 50 freestyle and 17th place in the 500 freestyle; Bri Barle, 39th in the 50 freestyle and 32nd place in the 100 freestyle; Losinski, seventh place in the 100 butterfly; Charlotte Stough, 19th place in the 200 freestyle and 22nd place in the 100 freestyle; Sofia Gruner, seventh place in the 1-meter dive; Macy Poradzisz, 10th place in the 1-meter dive; Sidney Aseltine, eighth place in the 100 butterfly; Ambriah Lewis, seventh place in the 200 IM and 16th place in the 100 backstroke; Danika Harris, 18th place in the 200 freestyle and 20th place in the 500 freestyle; Korrin Brown, 16th place in the 100 butterfly and 18th place in the 100 backstroke; and Callie Jones, 38th place in the 50 freestyle and 17th place in the 100 breaststroke.

Coldwater will be back in the pool Tuesday when they celebrate their seniors with Senior Night as the team hosts Kalamazoo Central at the Browne Aquatic Center.
