Cobras pull sweep at Surry

Feb. 27—DOBSON — Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute's baseball team rolled on the road last Friday.

The Cobras swept Surry Community College 10-6 and 8-5 top open Region 10, Division III action.

In the opener, Jacob Bebber belted a two-run homer in the first inning and Bo Davidson followed with a two-run single in the second to make it 4-0.

Leading 5-2 in the sixth, Garrison Burress a solo home run.

Hayden Setzer and Breon Ishmael each plated runs in the eighth in pushing the cushion to 10-4. Setzer had three RBIs in the first game.

Walker Pedante was the winning pitcher, yielding four earned runs and scattering six hits over five innings while striking out 10 with three walks. In four relief innings, Bradley Jordan four strikeouts) earned the save by retiring the final 12 batters.

Bebber clubbed another two-run homer in the finale, giving Caldwell a 5-1 advantage in the fourth. Surry (7-4, 0-2) then tied it up with out in the bottom of that inning.

Max Mull took the mound in the fifth and hurled two shutout innings to get the win. He fanned one and was touched for one hit.

Steven Smith earned the save in one inning of relief. He fanned two.

In the decisive seventh inning, Ishmael and Dalton Stikeleather each rapped run-scoring single and J.T. Fecteau delivered a sacrifice RBI bunt.

Ishmael and Davidson each doubled in the second game.

The Cobras (10-2, 2-0) hit the diamond at Cleveland on Wednesday with first pitch at 3.
