Coach Nick Nurse singles out Tobias Harris after Sixers beat Raptors

The Philadelphia 76ers had a big day up in Canada as they defeated the Toronto Raptors 135-120. Despite missing Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, the Sixers were able to generate a franchise-record 24 triples to get the win on the road.

The Raptors have now lost 13 games in a row and the Sixers were able to take advantage of them missing Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and Jakob Poeltl. Philadelphia did a good job of handling its business.

Kelly Oubre Jr. led the Sixers with 32 points, but Tobias Harris had a big night with a lot of his production coming in the fourth quarter. Harris scored nine of his 21 points in the fourth and shot 4-for-5 from the floor including knocking down a triple.

“I thought it was great because it was when the game was kind of mattering a lot, right?” coach Nick Nurse told reporters after the win. “We needed those buckets and he made a great move, and then the very next time down, he made a driving layup. Like, those are my favorites is when he gets the move and gets all the way to the rim and scores. Again, like, I keep saying he can do a little bit everything and he showed a little bit of everything today.”

Harris is a unique player. He is a guy who really can do a little bit of everything on the floor such as dribbling into a quick shot, scoring in the post, knocking down triples, and taking a guy off the dribble. It’s just a matter of getting him the ball and making sure he can operate within the offense.

His scoring in the fourth quarter held off the Raptors who gave the Sixers a battle in the second half.

“We posted him once, he got a bucket,” Nurse finished. “He made perimeter jump shots, made a 3, made some driving plays. So those were critical buckets, so it’s good to see.”

The Sixers will now return home to play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.
