Clemson up to No. 2 in Baseball America rankings; No. 3 in D1Baseball

A 5-0 week that included a three-game series sweep of previously unbeaten Florida State saw the Clemson Tigers move up in the Top 25 rankings for both Baseball America and D1Baseball.

The Tigers improved to 22-2 overall after its sweep of the Seminoles in ACC play. They also defeated both Winthrop and Presbyterian College in midweek action. Those five wins moved Clemson one spot to No. 2 in Baseball America’s new Top 25 rankings and to No. 3 in D1Baseball’s new rankings, both released Monday.

Clemson rallied from 8-1 down in the ninth inning Saturday for an incredible 9-8 walk-off victory over FSU at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. A day later, they erased an 11-2 deficit in a 14-12 comeback win.

Arkansas (19-3) remained at No. 1 in both rankings after taking two of three from Auburn over the weekend.

Oregon State (21-2) stayed at No. 2 in D1Baseball’s rankings while moving ahead one spot to No. 3 in Baseball America’s rankings.

Florida (14-9) and Texas A&M (21-3) rounded out the top five in Baseball America’s rankings. The Aggies were No. 4 in D1Baseball’s rankings while Tennessee was No. 5.

Clemson will host Coastal Carolina Tuesday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Chanticleers (18-6) are No. 19 in this week’s D1Baseball rankings. Next up for the Tigers in conference action is a trip to Miami for a three-game series against the Hurricanes beginning Thursday.
