Clemson football without Justin Mascoll, Peter Woods vs. NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. — Clemson football will be without starting defensive end Justin Mascoll when it faces NC State on Saturday. Freshman defensive tackle Peter Woods also did not travel to Raleigh.

Mascoll, a sixth-year, sustained an unspecified injury against Miami last week. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said leading up to the NC State game that Mascoll was "day to day."

An unspecified injury also held Woods out. Redshirt junior defensive tackle Tre Williams, who has been out all season with a shoulder injury, traveled for the first time this year, adding to Clemson's depth at the tackle spot.

Freshman defensive end T.J. Parker will presumably start in Mascoll's place alongside Xavier Thomas at the other end spot. Parker is the Tigers' leader in tackles for loss (8.5) and sacks (4).

Also absent will be wide receiver Antonio Williams, who sustained a foot injury against Miami and will "miss a few games," according to Swinney. Starting safety R.J. Mickens had an appendectomy this week and is out indefinitely.

Freshman Tyler Brown will start at slot receiver in place of Williams, and Mickens' replacement will likely be freshman Khalil Barnes.

Clemson (4-3, 2-3 ACC) and NC State (4-3, 1-2) kick off at 2 p.m. ET on the CW.
