Clark-Willow Lake's Roehrich, Hamlin's Abraham lead teams to titles in Region 1B at CCGC

WATERTOWN — Medlists Aiden Abraham of Hamlin (boys) and Brynn Roehrich of Clark-Willow Lake (girls) carried their teams to titles in the Region 1B high school boys and girls golf tournament on Monday at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

Abraham shot an even-par 72 and won the boys division by three shots. Hamlin won the team title with a 231, 17 shots better than runner-up Castlewood.

Roehrich won the girls division for the third-straight year with a six-over par 78. She won by 11 shots and helped the Cyclones take the girls division by a 283-298 margin over runner-up Webster Area. Clark-Willow Lake ended Castlewood's run of seven-straight region championships.

The top two teams, 22 boys and 13 girls qualified for the state B tournaments June 3-4 at the Edgebrook Golf Course (girls) and Brookings Country Club (boys) in Brookings.

DELL RAPIDS — Ayla Texley of Estelline-Hendricks and Blake Larson of Wessington Springs won individual titles Monday in the Region 2B tournament at the Rocky Run Golf Course.

Texley shot 12-over par 84 to win the girls division by one shot. Larson won by two shots in the boys division by firing a 2-over 73. Wessington Springs shot 235 and won the boys division by 10 shots over De Smet and Chester won the girls division by a 274-288 margin over De Smet.

The top two teams, 20 boys and 15 girls qualified for the state B tournaments June 3-4 at the Edgebrook Golf Course (girls) and Brookings Country Club (boys) in Brookings.

PIERRE — Wesley Wittler of Sully Buttes and Jayce Pugh of Miller won individual titles in the Region 5B high school golf tourney on Monday at the Hillsview Golf Course.

Wittler shot an even-par 72 ajnd won the boys division by one shot over teammate and defending champion Gavin Colson. Pugh repeated as the girls division champion, winning by 10 shots with a 3-over 75. Ipswich's boys and Miller's girls won team titles.

The top two teams, 26 boys and 13 girls qualified for the state B tournaments June 3-4 at the Edgebrook Golf Course (girls) and Brookings Country Club (boys) in Brookings.

Yankton Quad

YANKTON — Aberdeen Central shot 326 and finished second in the Yankton Quadrangular on Monday at the Fox Run Golf Course.

Mitchell won with a 322 score, four shots ahead of Aberdeen Central. Yankton followed at 384 and Brandon Valley 385. Allison Meyerink of Mitchell won medalist honors with a 2-over 74.

Olivia Braun shot a 75 and finished second to lead Aberdeen Central. Other Golden Eagles and their scores included Kyley Wirebaugh, tied for third with a 79; Emma Dohrer, sixth with an 81; Morgan Jones, tied for ninth with a 91; Chloe Vikander, tied for 12th with a 93; and Kylie Herman, 17th with a 99.
