'On to Cincinnati': Remembering Bill Belichick’s viral 2014 interview

Bill Belichick parted ways with the New England Patriots on Thursday after a storied 24-season tenure that included six Super Bowl wins.

The 71-year-old head coach produced 296 total wins with the Patriots – the second-most by any head coach with a single team in NFL history. But, in Cincinnati, he may be best remembered for a 2014 interview.

Bill Belichick started a viral phrase, "We're on to Cincinnati," during a 2014 post-game interview.

The Patriots had just lost 41-14 to the Kansas City Chiefs and were due to play the Cincinnati Bengals next. During the post-game press conference, Belichick repeatedly asserted, "We're on to Cincinnati" five times after reporters asked him about the loss.

The Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl that season. Belichick's repeated, "We're on to Cincinnati," showed fans he had moved on from the team's loss to the Chiefs and were instead focusing on their next game against the Bengals.

All told, he mentioned Cincinnati 15 times throughout the press conference.

"I could have done it (repeated the phrase) three times. I could have done it 53 times. It could have been 103 times if that's what they wanted to keep asking, because we had to turn the page," Belichick said in a preview for the NFL documentary, "Do Your Job: Bill Belichick and the 2014 Patriots."
