Cincinnati Reds infielder/outfielder Spencer Steer appeared on MLB Network's "Hot Stove," and he talked about whether he expects the team to continue its Viking helmet celebration of home runs into the 2024 season.

"It was actually (Luis) Cessa in spring training came up to Jake Fraley and said, 'You look like a Viking. So I'm gonna get you a Viking helmet. And we're gonna put it on you when you hit a home run,'" Steer said. "Jake's a great team guy, great dude. So obviously he didn't want everything to be about him. So he said let's do it as a team. And we kinda ran with it and kinda added new props as the season went on. Yeah, so we'll see if we bring it back next year. It's not really my call obviously. But we'll see what happens."

As a rookie, Steer led the Reds in home runs, hits, walks and RBIs in 2023. Steer became the seventh rookie in Reds' history with at least 20 home runs in a season, hitting 23.

Steer added later in the MLB Network interview that he's headed to Goodyear for spring training "around February 12 or so, after the Super Bowl."

And Steer said his Super Bowl 58 pick is the Kansas City Chiefs.
