Christian Braswell is a sixth round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Former Rutgers football defensive back Christian Braswell is heading to the NFL. Braswell was selected in the sixth round of the NFL draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Selected second-team All-Big Ten by Pro Football Focus, Braswell made five starts and had 12 appearances this past season. He had 37 total tackles and three interceptions as a senior.

At his Pro Day in March, Braswell ran a 4.52 time in the 40.

The selection was announced during Saturday’s annual ‘Spring Game’ at SHI Stadium.

The players on both the scarlet and white sidelines reacted to the news by jumping around and celebrating the selection of their former teammate.

Braswell was the first Rutgers player selected in this week’s NFL draft.

Last year, two Rutgers players were selected in the NFL draft: running back Isiah Pacheco and wide receiver Bo Melton. Both players were taken in the seventh round of the draft.
