Chris Paul reveals goal for upcoming Warriors season
Chris Paul’s addition to the Golden State Warriors has undoubtedly raised the team’s championship hopes ahead of the new season. Despite entering his age-38 season, Paul is a proven veteran with a history of elevating the team he’s playing for. Of course, there are concerns regarding his role and fit within the roster, yet that can be said whenever a big name is added to an already competitive team.
During a recent interview on ‘Lunch with Lindsay,’ Paul discussed his upcoming season with Golden State, along with his immediate goals now that he’s teaming up with a squad that was once his nemesis.
“Obviously, it’s that elusive championship,” Paul said. “So going to a team with guys who have that pedigree. They’ve shown the ability to do it over and over again, with a coaching staff, with a primetime organization. As long as I’ve been playing, I still love learning, so I’m excited about going into this team, this organization, and seeing how I can be a piece or just be part of the puzzle to help our team win.”
It remains to be seen whether Paul is given a bench role next season or, more importantly, where he would accept such a role. Yet, at this late stage of his career, Paul would likely benefit from a slightly reduced workload and would thrive as the primary ball-handler on Golden State’s second unit.
Regardless of how Steve Kerr intends to utilize the veteran guard, it’s clear the Warriors have improved this summer, and if Paul can genuinely contend for a championship, concerns over his role and workload will likely take a back seat.
