Chris Beard vs. Texas Tech basketball? Latest NCAA Tournament projections say it's possible

Despite dropping two games last week, the Texas Tech basketball team remained in the national rankings. But what about the Red Raiders' NCAA Tournament hopes?

With six weeks until Selection Sunday, the Red Raiders remain in good position to compete in March Madness, though there was some shifting when it comes to Tech's seed lines among the major projections. Here's where they land in the big four.

LAST WEEK'S PROJECTIONS: NCAA Tournament projections for Texas Tech basketball: Moving on up the seed line

ESPN: 7-seed (Midwest Region)

Despite the losses, Texas Tech did not move up or down the seed line in Joe Lunardi's bracket on Tuesday. He kept the Red Raiders as a No. 7 seed with the team taking on 10-seed Virginia in Charlotte, North Carolina.

CBS Sports: 7-seed (Midwest Region)

The biggest seed-line drop for Tech came from CBS Sports, which had the Red Raiders as a 4-seed last week. Jerry Palm pegs Tech as a 7-seed in this week's update and has the Red Raiders taking on 10-seed Mississippi State in Indianapolis.

Fox Sports: 7-seed (West Region)

Not only did Texas Tech not move down in Mike DeCoursey's latest bracket, the Fox Sports scribe's updated projections saw the Red Raiders move up a spot to the 7-seed line. That position features another projection of Tech taking on St. John's.

Field of 68: 6-seed (South Region)

Who doesn't love a good blood feud in March? Whether or not it was intentional (I lean towards yes) the Field of 68's latest bracket has the Red Raiders as a 6-seed and taking on Ole Miss, which is coached by former Texas Tech leading man Chris Beard. There's no projected location for this game, but wherever it would be, extra security may be needed.
