Chiefs kick off Week 2 of OTAs on Tuesday

The Kansas City Chiefs continue Phase 3 of the offseason workout program on Tuesday, May 30 with their second week of OTAs. The first of three practice sessions will take place, with six of ten practices having been completed at the end of Week 2.

The team completed their first week of OTAs last Wednesday, giving the players and coaching staff a long holiday weekend for Memorial Day. Remember, OTAs are entirely voluntary. Padded practices and live contact are still forbidden during this phase of the offseason program. Team drills such as 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 are permitted.

These practices serve as an opportunity to get veterans and rookies on the practice field together for the first time during the course of the offseason. It’s a way to really set a strong foundation for the rest of the offseason, especially for the new players who are just learning the ropes in Kansas City.

The team had great attendance in Week 1 of OTAs with over 80 players participating in the voluntary workouts. Expect that they’ll continue to have the majority of the roster in attendance as OTAs continue this week.

As for this week’s media availability, you can expect to hear from members of the offensive and defensive coaching staff on Thursday when the practice week concludes.
