Chelsea vs Manchester United, Premier League

What is it?

Chelsea vs Manchester United at Stamford Bridge. The latest instalment in the fascinating adventures of Jose Mourinho and his underperforming Manchester United team as they play against Chelsea in the early Saturday kick-off.

When is it?

Saturday lunchtime on the 20th of October 2018.

What time is kick-off?

Saturday lunchtime. Specifically, 12:30pm.

What TV channel is it on?

Sky Sports Premier League / Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Ultra HD.

What is the team news?

Antonio Rudiger is the only regular first teamer missing for the hosts, who will almost definitely lineup in a 4-3-3 as they have done all season.

Man Utd are less predictable and have a host of doubts ahead of this clash.

Alexis Sanchez has been out of form but his late return from international duty with Chile means he might not make it. Luke Shaw, Maroune Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay are all doubts while Jesse Lingard and Marcos Rojo definitely won't make it due to injury.

The most likely shape is a 4-5-1 in defensive phases with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford instructed to attack the wide areas on the counter-attack.

What are the current standings?

What are they saying?

Maurizio Sarri

"I think [Man Utd] are a very strong team. Maybe player-by-player, they are the best team in the league.

"At the moment City is more of a team, but player-by-player they are very, very strong. We are talking only about eight matches, they are doing well in the Champions League so they can improve in the Premier League, we are talking about two months.

"We are talking about a coach that has won everything, everywhere, so I think you have to respect him. I think you all have to respect him."

Jose Mourinho

“For me it is another game, would I celebrate like crazy my team scoring a goal at Stamford Bridge or my team having a victory at Stamford Bridge? I don’t think so.

“I think I would try to control myself and to respect the stadium and the supporters that were my supporters and my stadium for many years.

“To do that should be something [where] I completely lost my emotional control, which is not easy, so I would think which stadium I am in, which public is in the stands? But apart from that it is another match for me. I want to do well for my team, players, support, I am 100 per cent Manchester United tomorrow, no more space than respect for the stadium and the fans.”

What are the best odds?

  • Chelsea 8-11

  • Draw 3-1

  • Manchester Utd 4-1

Manchester United are a bigger price to win this match than they were when beating Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in April.

While Jose Mourinho's side are undoubtedly in poorer form now, should they be rated less likely to beat this Chelsea team than last season's record breakers?
